I initially created the first two illustrations for the coaster show for Gallery Nucleus Portland and then made a digital version of it. I wanted to draw characters in traditional Filipino clothing and give them a modern twist by adding chunky shoes and modern hairstyles.
I wanted to portray the Visayan Goddess, Dalikmata. She can see the past, present, future, and everything tangible and intangible. She weeps for the evil acts man has committed and it is said that the morning dew on the plants and flowers are her tears. Butterflies and moths help her to keep watch over the world.
